Welcome to our annual Governors report 2017/18

We have had a fantastic year and are very proud of all of our children.  It has been great to witness the development of the Forest School area and see the benefits, first hand, of outdoor learning.  Skills of collaboration, perseverance and problem solving are so important and Forest School supports all of these areas alongside curriculum subjects.

Our curriculum is exciting, appropriate and varied. Each half term is supported by high quality educational visits or specialists working within the school.  The children have enjoyed a wide range of off-site visits as reported in the weekly newsletter and a range of specialist artists, musicians and sports coaches to name but a few. Our extensive provision of after school clubs are now a regular feature of school life. We are deeply committed to the ethos that every child should have access to the same opportunities regardless of economics and are proud that we finance these enrichment opportunities and seek funding beyond the school.

We firmly believe that the curriculum is the key to raising standards and we are delighted that our children’s attainment remained above the national attainment in reading, writing and maths. We are proud that the gap has narrowed significantly between pupil premium and non- pupil premium children. Our aim is to allow every child to be the best that they can be and to equip every child for lifelong learning.

Our Nursery continues to flourish and offers a nurturing environment where children’s needs are met.  The regular newsletter updates and communication with parents give an insight to what a joyful place the Nursery is.

We would like to thank parents, carers and volunteers for your amazing support. The school is always full of volunteers reading, accompanying school trips, helping with the swimming ratios and walking to the tennis club. Your effort makes so much possible.

Thank you to Claire Grant, our Executive Headteacher, who relentlessly seeks to secure the very best for our children and families and to her team of dedicated, hardworking professionals who embrace our ethos.

We are looking forward to another dynamic year ahead and working to support our school in the heart of the community.
