Welcome to our annual Governors report 2015/2016

This year has seen our school provide an extensive range of activities for all of our children to access an enriched curriculum. We are proud of our access to specialists such as gymnastics, tennis and football.  Participation by our children in events such as tennis and football tournaments promotes a strong sense of teamwork and supports self-esteem.

Our ambitious and forward-thinking leadership have secured trips to the Theatre Royal Plymouth for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Queens Theatre, Rosemoor, Arlington Court, local farm and the beach and Coombe Woods in Goodleigh. All of these visits demonstrate our commitment to performing arts, music and our natural environment and the impact these can have in enriching our thematic curriculum.

The varied after-school clubs are much appreciated by our families and we want to thank the team of staff/volunteers who run these well-attended clubs. They are a great opportunity for all of our children to be involved in a range of activities and thank you for your feedback in the recent parent/carer questionnaires.

Our Nursery team have delivered an embedded thematic curriculum with plenty of opportunities for our children to develop and grow, including gardening and visits within Ilfracombe. Our children across the whole school have enjoyed making use of our newly refurbished library, it is a pleasure to see.

Our first year as a federation with Goodleigh C of E Primary School has enabled us to seize on the opportunities to collaborate across both schools. Our excellent team of staff have worked together for professional development opportunities and also our children have joined together for events such as the taiko drumming and visits to Coombe Woods in Goodleigh for Forest School.

We take this opportunity to thank all of our outstanding team of staff for their dedication and commitment to ensuring every child flourishes. All of the above achievements take time to research, plan, organise and deliver and I know the greatest satisfaction for all the team of staff is seeing our children engaged and inspired. Our approach to lifelong learning and the wellbeing of every child needs a shared ethos between all members of the school community; for this we fully acknowledge the full part played by you as parents/carers and families of our children in supporting the school.
