1MC went to Chapel Woods in Spreacombe on Wednesday! We were super lucky with the weather and had the most amazing day :-). First we retold the story of Little Red Riding Hood in the chapel ruins, we loved joining in with the parts that we knew, and it was extra magical being in the woods to do this with the sound of the trees and the stream.
Then we went into the main part of the wood to create a story map of Little Red Riding Hood using forest finds such as twigs, pebbles, leaves and clay. We had to work together as a team to create Little Red Riding Hood's house, the forest and Grandma's House. We then added signs to warn people about the big bad wolf.
Next we had a lovely picnic lunch in a clearing in the wood and then played in the huge field nearby.
Finally we went back into the wood to help add to the dens that were being built, we loved recreating the story we are learning in the dens with our friends. We collected forest finds in our treasure boxes, we found some interesting feathers, pine cones and different shaped twigs and leaves.
We were very sleepy on the minibus back to school after our woodland adventure!
