Our Curriculum

The school curriculum is all the learning and other experiences that we plan for our children. We firmly believe that all children have a right to a broad, balanced and relevant education which provides continuity and progression and takes individual differences into account.

Through our planning for the curriculum we aim to:
  • Develop lively, enquiring minds, together with a positive wish to learn, to question and to argue rationally, and to apply themselves intelligently to tasks
  • Develop positive qualities of human feeling and imagination, and an appreciation of human achievement and endeavour
  • Let children experience the satisfaction of creativity
  • Allow them to acquire knowledge and skills relevant, in a changing world, to their adult lives at work and at leisure
  • Respect the religious, spiritual and moral values of others and to consider thoughtfully their own attitudes, values and beliefs
  • Understand the history and present condition of their own society and the world in which they live, and the interdependence of individuals, groups and nations
  • Develop a sense of self-respect and individual worth, a capacity to live as independent, self-motivated adults, and the ability to live and work in co-operation with others
  • Promote education as an enjoyable, exciting and worthwhile experience
  • Discover and maximise every child's potential
  • Encourage commitment to the personal, social and intellectual development of the whole child
  • Encourage the use of a differentiated educational provision in the classroom through curriculum enrichment and extension
  • Enable pupils of different backgrounds and abilities to demonstrate what they know and can do
  • Ensure that pupils are given tasks which match their level of attainment
  • Ensure that pupils achieve success and feel that the learning experience has been worthwhile
  • Ensure we provide a fully inclusive curriculum
