Nursery

We are a welcoming, bright and stimulating teacher-led nursery. We are located on the school site in a separate building with a generous outside space.  The children are also able to access the school’s facilities which include the swimming pool, gym equipment and school meals.

At our nursery we work with children to provide the best care and teach and support them to fulfil their potential. Every child is allocated a ‘key person’ and all staff are experienced, highly trained and passionate about giving excellent early years care and education.

We aim to provide a broad and balanced curriculum for the whole child.  We do this by developing secure relationships within an exciting and stimulating environment where children can play and learn.

We encourage children to make choices and decisions for themselves within an environment that is structured for free choice and promotes active learning.

The provision presents a variety of learning opportunities for each child to develop their full range of interests, skills and knowledge. Our learning objectives are based upon the Early Years Foundation Stage document.

We use a topic-based approach to provide a focus for areas of play. We encourage parents and carers to help their child by talking to them about what they have done at Nursery.

Nursery activities are fun, enjoyable and engaging. The play areas all have a purpose and are carefully structured to provide as much learning as possible. The outdoor environment is planned with equal consideration.

Every area of experience at the nursery is equipped to provide learning opportunities in the seven areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum:

  • Personal, social and emotional development
  • Communication and language
  • Physical development
  • Mathematics
  • Literacy
  • Understanding of the world
  • Expressive arts and design

We follow a positive behaviour approach, which is similar to the approach used in our school. We have a few simple rules which we encourage the children to follow. Children are expected to walk and use quiet voices inside the nursery, to be kind to each other and share and to listen carefully to others.

“The change in both of my children socially has been incredible. It’s so important at this young age to have a good start.”
